Sedona Hummingbird Festival

River Stories

DESCRIPTION - Friends of the Verde River and the Sedona International Film Festival will present an evening of live storytelling, poetry, music, interpretive dance and more. The event will feature 12+ performers from all over the state. I will offer a story combining movement and vocalizations with my multi-talented friend, artist Frederica Hall. Zoongnosis

DESCRIPTION - Pash offers a voice in arts educator Vahri McKenzi's COVID-mediated participatory artwork, "Zoongnosis," which splices donated audio with discarded gloves and taxidermied bird wings at the Upending/Meding Exhibition for the University of Canberra's Faculty of Arts and Design annual exhibition at Belconnen Arts Centre.

Sedona Film Festival Afterparty at Greg Lawson's Gallery

Dia de los Muertos Festival

LOCATION - Tlaquepaque Village, Sedona, AZ

DESCRIPTION - For the 7th year, Pash and friends will dress up in Day of the Dead attire and creatively engage with attendees. Musicians and street performers will also entertain guests. Participants may make an offering or ofrenda, which in the traditional Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos is created to remember the dead. Engaging the Muse

DESCRIPTION - Participate in a unique event in the Waddell Studio in Cornville that will offer new, original mask performance from Pash Galbavy, a sdance solo by Mark Stevens and dance improvisations in duet with Pash, also Frederica Hal l’s vocal poetry/song, and Rodrigo de Toledo’s improvisational Keyboard/guitar. There will also be a Q/A with dedicated life drawing artists, and the event will conclude with demonstrations of the art of classical figure drawing. Sedona Wine Festival - Paint Out

DESCRIPTION - Pash will pose in a toga with a wine barrel and grapes while Plein Air artists paint. Finished paintings will be available for purchase at this yearly event where you can also taste and buy local wines, enjoy excellent food, and learn about the history of wine, the wine industry and how to enhance your tasting experience.


Humans & the Environment - workshop

DESCRIPTION - Eulogy for a Home is the debut mask, movement and storytelling presentation offered as an homage to the earth and to the family home Pash recently lost in the California, Woolsey fire, Pash will use her archetypal masks combined with stories and movement to reflect on losing a home to an extreme fire linked to climate change. Exploring Identity with Mask Making

The Figure Revealed: Artists & Muse

DATES - Exhibit: Jan 25 - Feb 5, 2018, 10am-5pm              

LOCATION - Sedona Arts Center, Sedona

DESCRIPTION - An Art Exhibit highlighting the work of artists who are regular attendees of the Monday Life Drawing Group at Sedona Arts Center, which Pash is host and model for. The show will include opportunities for the public to experience drawing the figure and to watch demos. Featured during the 1/26, 5-8pm Opening Reception, and the First Friday Closing Reception will be live contact improvisational dance inspired poses that the public is invited to sketch during two “Draw-a-thons.” Attendees will be provided with paper and drawing supplies. Pash and guest model/dancer Mark Stevens will dance for 6 minutes then offer 6 minute, “quick gesture” poses, that will be based on their work together as performance artists and contact improvisational dancers. Attendees may draw or watch. Some of the exhibiting artists, including Jim Joseph-Mendel, Charles DeLay, Patty Miller, and Greg Evans, will also offer live drawing demonstrations. Demonstrations of Portrait Carving in Wood, with sculptor Charles DeLay, and Gesture Drawing Demonstration & Instruction with artist J. Menzel-Joseph and a live model, will be offered 1:30-4pm, 1/27.  Opportunities to experience an open studio life drawing group will take place 1/29 and 2/5, 10am-1pm. BYO supplies. Easels provided. Festival of Angels

DESCRIPTION - Pash will embody an angel at this first annual fundraising event to benefit Cornucopia Community Advocates and other charitable community service programs and projects. Hope & Trauma in a Poisoned Land -Uranium Education Project Exhibit

DATE - August 15-October 28,

LOCATION - Coconino Center for the Arts, Flagstaff

DESCRIPTION - Artists offer art and mixed media presentations related to their experience of attending a 4-day educational program about the effects of uranium mining on the Navajo Reservation. On opening night, Pash will embody her new Radon Daughter mask. Afterwards, this mask will be on display for the remainder of the exhibition. Project story here. I-Witness

DESCRIPTION -  Pash will use masks and movement to share her personal and archetypal experience of participating in the Uranium Mining Education Project. Masks of Privilege, Fear, Compassion and more will play parts in this story of awakening to a haunting reality that exists right outside of Flagstaff, and which affects the health of everyone, especially those living on the Navajo Reservation.


Freeing the Frozen Body - The Human Library Project

DESCRIPTION -  Pash will be a “book” as part of the Human Library project. She will be on “loan,” sharing her experience what it’s like to be one who uses her body in modeling and contact dancing as a primary form of expression, communication, and art. She will be joined by guest artist and dancer, Tracy Browner.


Birth of a Movement @ Art Soul Cafe

DESCRIPTION - This is the launch of the Art Soul Cafe home; a warehouse for artists of all mediums to exhibit and demonstrate their craft. “Duality” is the opening theme. Pash will offer two masks to display for the exhibit, Desire and Transcendence. She will embody their love child, Emptiness, as an exploration during the opening night reception.  Other activities include partner/group acrobatics, dance, and live music with special DJ’s that are part of the launch.


Sustainability in Schools Symposium

And Martha Edwards and Pash will present Pash’s Woe of the World and Compassion masks in a short presentation as part of Red Earth Theatre’s live performance of Stillness.


“Facing Wetiko”

DESCRIPTION - ”Wetiko” (aka “Wendigo" or “Windigo”) is an Algonquin word that describes a cannibalistic spirit or disease that consumes everything that keeps itself alive. Olandar will host a presentation of “Facing Wetiko,” during which Pash will use improvisation, storytelling, movement, dance, mask-art, myth, and personal and collective healing ritual to help raise awareness about the problem of, and issues created by, the energy of wetiko that seems to have taken over and is destroying our planet. Pash and photographer Larry Pollock were the recent recipients of a grant given by The Rules Seeing Wetiko project to create masks, photos and text for Seeing Wetiko & Its Antidotes.This performance is a culmination of that project. The Humanity Reclamation Project

DESCRIPTION - Pash brings masks to life as the archetypes that are encountered and embodied on her interpersonal journey into adulthood and on our planet. The Rebel, Pleaser, Prostitute, and Saboteur are a few of the characters that incarnate during the struggle to be at home in her body and in the world. Opposing forces vie for control of her mind and spirit as she tries to escape from disowned aspects of herself before ultimately working to reclaim what has been lost, stolen, discarded or forgotten. In doing so, she touches on issues faced by many in our Western Culture. She offers hope that a way back to wholeness can be found by learning to listen to our own inner calling, and the calling of our planet and its inhabitants, however unfamiliar their voices may seem. This performance is part of Building Bridges, a March event series in Sedona celebrating connections through empathy, awareness, art, and action. Humanity Reclamation Mask Making Workshop

DESCRIPTION - In part one of this workshop, participants will make a mask of their own face to represent their vision of integration & wholeness for people and the planet. In part two, the mask will be decorated to become a personal totem. Participants may share about their mask. Masks may optionally be displayed at the HUB during the Building Bridges events taking place there through March. This Workshop is part of Building Bridges, an event series in Sedona celebrating connections through empathy, awareness, art, and action.


Student/Faculty Art Exhibit at SAC

DESCRIPTION - Pash will exhibit her white tiger mask, “Wild,” at this show. Artists Carolyn Ensley, Darlene Nelson, and Shirley Nagle will also show works there that they started in Pash’s weekly life drawing group, which she hosts and models for at Sedona Arts Center. Searching for Solid Ground

DESCRIPTION - Opening reception for “Searching for Solid Ground,” an art show for artists Rose Moon and Cathy Gazda. This show is an artistic exploration of life, and the wondrous ways we seek equilibrium and peace while facing the challenges of an ever-changing reality. Pash will offer a movement and dance interpretation of the theme.

Exploration of Archetypes in a

Transitioning World

DESCRIPTION -  Pash will improvise with a number of archetypal masks in an effort to deepen understanding of these characters and their roles in our lives and the world. Then, she will be joined by Martin Landa and the two will use the person-centered approach as a foundation through which participants will be invited to interact and share their thoughts, reactions, and reflections. Peace Mask Making @ World Peace Dance Celebration

LOCATION - Yavapai College, Sedona Center for Arts and Technology, 4215 Arts Village Dr.

DESCRIPTION -   Participants will use plaster cloth to make a mask of their face, on their face, with the intent to create a mask representing their vision of peace. 

The World Peace Dance Celebration offers a week of (mostly) free events and workshops offering opportunities to learn different ways of bringing peace into our lives and the world.

The 3-part, performance exemplifies the possibility of turning personal, political, and religious discord into peaceful co-existence. “Sedona Awakenings” Performance

DESCRIPTION -  A Playback Theater performance of the book “Sedona Awakenings”, which was the result of true stories of how authors came to Sedona submitted for the Mystical Sedona Stories Writing Contest, which Pash’s story, "The Great Escape," won first place in. The performance will be conducted by award-winning actor, director, writer, theater producer, and Non-Violent Communication mediator, Dr. Marjorie Timms.


Fabulous Face-Painting Flower Fairy at Bookmans

DESCRIPTION - In-masked as the Fabulous Face-Painting Flower Fairy, Pash, paints children’s faces while Kelly Graham makes animal balloons at Bookman’s Back-to-School party. Snacks and giveaways available. Event and all activities free and open to the public.


Mysterium: A Prayer Concert

DESCRIPTION - This Mysterium Concert is composed of prayer, chants, and the poems of Rumi. It will include Lynne Haeseler on piano, Carolyn Estrada with flute, Jere Friedman with gongs, Sally Gebler doing interpretive dance, and Pash offering reading, masks, and movement.

The Goddess Project

LOCATION - Elks Theater, Prescott, AZ

DESCRIPTION -  Pash, John Kilis, and Lainey Hanson use masks to dance, move, and act the story of  Inanna--Sumerian goddess of heaven, earth, love, sex, and war-- and her decent to the Underworld. This short performance with masks is part of a showcase that uses a variety of movement and dance forms to depict various goddesses.

DESCRIPTION -  Margaret Starbird internationally renowned author and Magdalen scholar will be the keynote speaker at this 8th annual celebration. The theme is, “Women Living Her Message”. DESCRIPTION -  Pash participates in-masked as the Muse at this showcase of works from the Arizona Print Group, an association of printmaker artists dedicated to the art of unique and limited edition fine art prints. The show is in conjunction with Art Detour, Artlisnk's annual self-guided tour of downtown Phoenix art spaces.


Mask Exploration at MAX 10

DESCRIPTION -  As part of the MAX 10 show, Pash offers a ten-minute version of The Body Reclamation Project.

     MAX 10 Performance Laboratory is an opportunity for artists of every type to do brave work, experiment, and risk failure. Each piece is no longer than ten minutes, with no more than ten performers. After the performances, there is a reception where the audience can talk to the artists about what let you into their work or what kept you out.

“Spice of Life Series” w/ David Keeber

LOCATION - Old Town Center for the Arts, Cottonwood, AZ

DESCRIPTION -  During this evenings' conversation led by David Keeber, a live demonstration of Pash’s basic mask making technique is offered. Pash introduces a number of masks she has made by telling stories, wearing the masks, and embodying masked characters. Participants are invited to experience wearing masks and to discuss any aspects of mask making/embodying.

     “Spice of Life” is a program series dedicated to engaging evenings with a wide range of presenters whose life, work, and ideas offer rich opportunities for learning, inspiration, and communication with the audience.  The series is intended for people to find creative stimulation through ideas, design, and expression in an environment focused on dialogue.


Mask Playshop

DATE - July/August, 2010

TIME - 4 Week series

LOCATION - Sedona

DESCRIPTION - This playshop starts with exercises to help participants become more in touch with their bodies and at ease working with masks. This is followed by an open forum offering support to explore and experiment with completed masks. The Person-Centered Approach, which encourages empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness provides a foundation for the interactivity in this workshop.
